Marilyn Hollier holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree in Human Resources/Urban Studies from Georgia State University. She is a Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) since 1997 and a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) since 1996. Marilyn has over 35 years of experience in public safety/security. Her tenure includes working with the Emory University Police Department and Assistant Director and Acting Director of Public Safety at Grady Health System in Atlanta, Georgia. She recently retired after 17 years as the Director of Security Services at the University of Michigan Health System and is now a security consultant with Security Risk Management Consultants LLC. Under Marilyn’s leadership at UMHS Security Services, it doubled in size, expanded its services to the hospital community, reduced patient violence and became an irreplaceable partner of the healthcare team. The department won the coveted IAHSS “Lindberg Bell” award for the most advanced healthcare security department nationally in 2008 and again in 2014. Marilyn was named one of the Top 30 voices in healthcare security by Security Management magazine in 2015.
